Eligibility for MBBS Admission in India:


  • Students must have passed the 10+2 examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Zoology and Botany) as well (Biology subject is accepted as optional in the 2024 session).

  • For admission through the All India Entrance Test (NEET), the student must be an Indian citizen.

  • Students must be 17+ by 31st December of the year of admission.

  • Must have qualified NEET as per the counseling criteria.

  • (NEET stands for National Eligibility cum Entrance Test)


The following things are considered to secure a medical seat in a reputed government college:


  • Marks obtained in the Senior Secondary Examination or equivalent passed by the Central Board of Secondary Education or PCB.

  • Marks obtained in the NEET examination conducted at the central level.

MBBS Admission in India

Medical education in India is provided by recognized medical colleges in India. All institutions must be recognized by the Medical Council of India Act. MBBS is known as Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery. Institutions that offer MBBS courses in their curriculum are called medical colleges. This course has a curriculum with basic and para-clinical subjects like- Anatomy, Bio-Chemistry, Pathology, Physiology, Medicine and Pharmacology. It is a four-and-a-half-year program and one-year internship for the students as per WHO guidelines.


Exams for MBBS in India

The government of India conducts only one national entrance examination which is called NEET Exam-(National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). Candidates must qualify for the examination as per the counselling guidelines.


  • Candidates wishing to be admitted to MBBS in India must have passed the class 12th examination with a minimum of 50% for the general category and 40% for the backward class.

  • Candidates must have completed 17 years of age on or before the 31st day of December of the year of admission.
